I'm from's Licorice Soothing Ampoule stays true to the brand's single-ingredient-forward philosophy: licorice extract (Glycyrrhiza uralensis) is the hero, delivered at high concentration in a minimalist formulation. Licorice contains glabridin, which inhibits tyrosinase and provides brightening action, alongside glycyrrhizin (anti-inflammatory). The ampoule is positioned for users who want brightening without aggressive actives like retinol or high-concentration vitamin C.
At $22.88 for 30ml, the pricing is excellent for an I'm from product. 30ml lasts 2 to 3 months at daily use. For users curious about licorice skincare or looking for a gentler alternative to traditional brightening actives, this ampoule is a low-cost test.
Glabridin (from licorice) inhibits tyrosinase, the enzyme that produces melanin, gradually fading existing pigmentation and preventing new pigmentation triggered by inflammation or UV. Glycyrrhizin provides anti-inflammatory support, calming redness and preventing post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. The combination targets both prevention and correction of uneven tone in a single gentle step.
Apply 3 to 4 drops to clean skin after toner. Pat into face and neck. Let absorb 30 to 60 seconds before moisturizer. Use AM and PM. Always follow with SPF in the AM; any brightening work requires strict sun protection.
For targeted spots, apply a small extra amount directly to dark spots or PIH areas. Consistent use over 8 to 12 weeks is required for visible fading.
Both brands use licorice as the hero. acwell has a larger product range (toner, cream, eye cream) at slightly higher pricing. I'm from is a focused ampoule at more accessible price. For licorice routines, acwell offers more steps; for single-ampoule licorice integration, I'm from is the value pick.
Different mechanism. Licorice inhibits melanin production; vitamin C is antioxidant and inhibits melanin through different pathways. Vitamin C is more documented and potent for general brightening. Licorice is gentler and particularly good for PIH and rosacea-related redness. Using both (vitamin C AM, licorice AM and PM) is common.
Topical licorice extract is generally considered safe during pregnancy, but some OBs recommend avoiding licorice-forward products as a precaution. Check with your doctor.
PIH: 8 to 12 weeks. Sun spots: 12 to 16 weeks. Melasma: 3 to 6 months partial.
2 to 3 months at twice-daily use.
