belif is LG Household & Health Care's herbalist-driven brand, built on 19th-century British herbalism translated into Korean formulation. The Aqua Bomb family is the brand's hydration line, and this cleansing oil balm is the first-cleanse companion to the cult-favorite Aqua Bomb moisturizer. What makes it a "smart" balm: it starts as a solid balm, turns into a cleansing oil on skin, then emulsifies into a milky rinse when you add water. Three textures in one step.
The formulation leans on belif's Napiers Comfrey Leaf Complex alongside lady's mantle, a hallmark ingredient across the Aqua Bomb line. Compared to most K-beauty balms, this one is less sweet-scented and more herbal, which suits users who find rice-and-milk cleansing balms too food-adjacent. It's built for the belif loyalist who already uses the Aqua Bomb toner and gel and wants the cleanse step to match.
The balm oil phase dissolves sebum, SPF, and makeup while lady's mantle and comfrey extracts provide mild soothing. Emulsifiers engineered into the base let the balm transform into a milky wash on contact with water, which rinses without residue. Hydrating humectants in the water-phase emulsion keep the skin from feeling tight after rinse. The finish is soft, not squeaky.
On dry skin, scoop a pea-sized amount with the spatula, warm it between fingers to melt, and massage across the face for 30 to 45 seconds. Add a little water, massage for another 10 seconds to emulsify (the balm turns milky), then rinse with lukewarm water. Follow with a gentle foaming cleanser as your second cleanse.
No. The cleansing oil is liquid and pumped; the balm is solid and scooped. Same hero ingredients, different textures. The balm is denser and better for heavier makeup or longer massage times. The oil is faster for daily SPF-only days.
belif's base oils are low-comedogenic and the formulation is engineered to rinse fully. Most acne-prone users tolerate it well when followed with a proper second cleanse. Patch test on the jawline for 7 days if you're cautious.
3 to 4 months with nightly use. The spatula helps avoid over-scooping.
belif is herbal-forward, lighter fragrance, more "clinical" feel. Beauty of Joseon is rice-and-cream scented, slightly warmer. For hydration-focused herbal routines, belif. For a more nostalgic, food-adjacent scent profile, Beauty of Joseon.
It handles standard long-wear makeup well. Heavy waterproof mascara or tubing mascara benefits from a dedicated eye remover first. For regular face makeup and SPF, the balm is sufficient.
Pair with the belif Aqua Bomb Moisturizer for the full hydration routine, or layer with the belif collection toner after rinsing.
