Abib's Heartleaf Spot Pad sits in the same category as Anua Heartleaf Toner Pads and Cosrx One Step Pimple Clear Pads, but with an important formulation difference: 77% Heartleaf (Houttuynia Cordata) extract as the base, not water. Each pad delivers a concentrated dose of heartleaf alongside 2% PHA and niacinamide, making this one of the more active "calming" pads on the market. 80 sheets at $33.59 comes out to about $0.42 per pad, which tracks with the Korean market standard.
Heartleaf has been the calming ingredient of the last three years in K-beauty. It contains quercetin and other flavonoids that suppress inflammation pathways. Abib uses it at a high base percentage rather than a splash of extract near the bottom of the ingredient list. The result: pads that visibly calm active breakouts and red patches within 24 to 48 hours of use, more than most competitors at this price point.
Heartleaf extract suppresses skin inflammation at a cellular signaling level. PHA (2%) gently exfoliates without the stinging of AHA or BHA, clearing the surface debris that can trap bacteria and worsen breakouts. Niacinamide reinforces barrier and evens tone. Together: calm, clear, resilient skin without the dryness of more aggressive acne pads.
After cleansing, swipe one pad across the face to tone and treat. For active spots, fold the pad, place on the spot for 3 to 5 minutes as a mini-mask. Use 1 to 2 times daily. Can replace your toner step or come after it. Follow with serum and moisturizer. Don't combine the same evening with AHA, BHA, or retinol at first; introduce alongside actives only after two weeks of tolerance building.
Abib has slightly more PHA (2% vs trace). Anua has a more minimalist ingredient list. Abib is better for active breakouts; Anua is better for pure calming. Both are widely used. If you have active acne, pick Abib. If you just want daily soothing, pick Anua.
Cosrx uses BHA (salicylic acid), which is stronger and more drying. Abib uses PHA, which is gentler. Cosrx is better for congested, oily skin. Abib is better for reactive skin or rosacea-adjacent redness.
Active spots calm within 24 to 48 hours. Overall redness reduces in 2 to 4 weeks. Texture and tone improvement at 6 to 8 weeks of daily use.
Yes, on off-nights. Don't combine same evening during the first month. Once tolerized, you can alternate or use Abib AM and retinoid PM.
Very rarely. The PHA is at 2% (low) and Heartleaf is calming. If you sting, it's likely a compromised barrier issue, not the pad itself.
Pair with Abib Collagen Gel Mask for weekly hydration boost, or Abib Wild Acidic Cleansing Water as the cleanse before.
